Day 1: Seattle

Arrive early this afternoon at the Port of Seattle cruise terminal where you board your ship. Cruise up Puget Sound past the San Juan Islands and overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 2: Seattle

Sail up the west coast of Vancouver Island and past the east coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands as you approach the northern portion of the Inside Passage on your journey to the Alaskan Panhandle. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 3: Juneau

The town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest, visit the rustic shops in town, set out and whale watch, flightsee, hike, kayak, raft or fish. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 4: Juneau to Sitka

As Biosphere Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. Glacier Bay has more actively calving tidewater glaciers than anyplace else in the world. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 5: Sitka to Sitka

Sitka was once a Russian settlement. Discover the echoes of its heyday at a performance by the New Archangel Dancers. Be greeted by Tlingit native people, then stand on the spot where the United States took possession of Alaska in 1867. Stroll through old growth forest in Sitka National Historical Park, shop the downtown district, and poke around the Sheldon Jackson Museum. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 6: Sitka to Ketchikan

Explore Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park, and Saxman Village, Ketchikan's main attractions. Deep water fjords created by retreating glaciers have left behind stunning granite cliffs towering thousands of feet above the sea and waterfalls cascading into placid waters. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 7: Ketchikan to Victoria

Established in 1843, Victoria's British ancestry is apparent in the double-decker buses, horse-drawn carriages, formal gardens, and tearooms. The city is now a cosmopolitan centre with a lively entertainment scene and an array of attractions. Overnight on Holland America's ms Eurodam.

Day 8: Victoria to Vancouver

After breakfast you will disembark the ms Eurodam in Vancouver. A motorcoach will transfer you to King Street Station for the first leg of your Rocky Mountaineer journey. After boarding, enjoy dinner onboard as you travel past the Chittenden Locks linking Puget Sound to Lakes Union and Washington. Highlights include the fishing fleet (and Boeing jets) of Everett, the fields at the foot of the Cascade Mountains near Mount Vernon, sunset views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands beyond and, after crossing the Canadian border, the community of White Rock as the train hugs the Pacific Coast and travels into Vancouver. On arrival in Vancouver, a motorcoach will transfer you to your hotel.

Day 9: Vancouver to Vancouver

Enjoy a six-hour sightseeing tour of Vancouver's majestic North Shore including the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain (gondola admission included). Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 10: Vancouver to Vancouver

Enjoy a day at leisure and check out Vancouver's must-see attractions. Explore the city's museums, art galleries, gardens, and varied neighbourhoods. Overnight in Vancouver.

Day 11: Vancouver to Kamloops

Travel onboard Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops. You will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the BC Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell's Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Overnight in Kamloops.

Day 12: Kamloops to Jasper

Your rail adventure continues north and east to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, Pyramid Falls, and the climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park.

Day 13: Jasper to Jasper

Today you will have an entire day to spend exploring Jasper National Park on your own. A wealth of optional activities (not included) abound: taking the Jasper Skytram to the high alpine of Whistlers Mountain, enjoying a nature walk on nearby mountain trails, cruising on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island, or playing a round of golf at The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Overnight in Jasper.

Day 14: Jasper to Lake Louise

Travel to Lake Louise via the Icefields Parkway. Visit highlights along the way, including Athabasca Falls, Bow Summit, Peyto Lake and Crowfoot Glacier. With sightseeing stops, we recommend allowing at least eight hours for today's drive. Overnight in Lake Louise.

Day 15: Lake Louise to Banff

Drive the scenic journey from Lake Louise to Banff, watching for deer and elk crossing specially constructed wildlife bridges over the highway. Alternatively, drive along the Bow Valley Parkway for views of Castle Mountain and Johnston Canyon (requires a short walk). The remainder of the day is yours to explore Banff. Overnight in Banff.

Day 16: Banff to Calgary

Travel through Kananaskis Country and the western ranching regions of Alberta at your own pace before arriving in Calgary. Overnight in Calgary.

Day 17: Calgary

Drop off your rental car in downtown Calgary or at Calgary International Airport, where your vacation ends.
